Employment BOOST Joins Forces With 'Big Ten' University Helping Undergrads Shape Their Careers

Nov 11, 2016 Mark

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Troy, MI - Nov 11, 2016 - The U.S. economy added 161,000 jobs in October and the unemployment rate nudged downward to 4.9 percent. By most economists’ reviews, this number reflects an economy operating under full or near-full employment. The even better news, however, was that wages grew by 0.4 percent — an uptick suggesting that one of the most frustrating aspects of the prolonged economic rebound is finally improving.

October’s report is encouraging for students at colleges and universities across the country. It means that unlike their slightly older compatriots who graduated in the last several years, their post-college/graduate school job prospects are looking brighter. The facts bear this out: the unemployment rate for those over 25 is only 2.4 percent and 21 percent of the class of 2016 accepted a position before graduation. As a result, competition among college grads is up which means it’s more important than ever that graduates have the best resumes, cover letters, and writing samples possible.

Our resume writing services are also a powerful reminder that even in the highly digital and Twitter-centric world in which we live, longer form documents like resumes that inform prospective employers about who and what their potential new hire is all about, is still vitally important.

James Phillip, Employment BOOST Founder and CEO

Recognizing the need to help students rise above the competition, Michigan-based Employment BOOST, a leading resume writing and editing company, recently announced that it has partnered with Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management working with more than 20 students in the school’s Business Analytics and Information Management Program (BAIM) providing customized feedback on student resumes and interviewing skills. Employment BOOST relied on its recruiting partnerships and its in-house research team to prepare, and students were excited to receive such guidance.

“It’s truly humbling and exciting to help the future of America’s workforce prepare for that first day on the job and all the days that follow,” says James Phillip, Employment BOOST’s founder and CEO. “And that future success is predicated on a positive interview and resume. Our resume writing services are also a powerful reminder that even in the highly digital and Twitter-centric world in which we live, longer form documents like resumes that inform prospective employers about who and what their potential new hire is all about, is still vitally important. The same can be said about interviewing skills. Knowing how to answer questions in complete articulate sentences, pivoting to one’s strengths during difficult questions, and knowing how to charm an interviewer are skills that will never be obsolete.”

Considering that the 20+ students were members of the BAIM program, many expressed interest in working for technology companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon. In order to help achieve that aim, prior to meeting with the students Employment BOOST reviewed resumes and conducted research on best practices in the field of data analytics. Students met with the company’s writers one-on-one to review content, style, and resume formatting. They also met with in-house interview coaches to run through mock interview questions and receive customized feedback. Each student left with additional resources to continue their preparation for their future job searches.

For students applying to positions such as these, the outlook also looks bright. While some IT jobs have been shed, the overall tech sector continues to enjoy net growth for the year. Since January, there’s been a net gain of 17,000 positions. Just last month in fact, Amazon’s global workforce crossed the symbolic 300,000 threshold and represents an impressive 14 percent increase from the second quarter of this year alone. For comparison, a 300,000 workforce is nearly half the size of the city of Indianapolis, Purdue’s backyard hometown.

“Employment BOOST offers a variety of resume writing services at competitive pricing plans, each tailored to meet individual needs,” adds Phillip. “Whether applicants are recent college graduates, graduate students, at entry- level positions, management or transitional, our professional resume writers possess the expert credentials to help your personal brand, Brand You, succeed.”
