Actor Tobias Menzies Launches WaterAid Campaign in New Role as Ambassador for the Charity

Press Release ( - NEW YORK - Nov 07, 2019 - WaterAid today announces that actor Tobias Menzies (The Crown, Outlander, and Game of Thrones) has become an ambassador for the international charity.

The announcement comes ahead of the launch of the third season of The Crown, which will be available on Netflix from November 17. Tobias will be seen as Prince Philip, alongside Olivia Coleman, who plays Queen Elizabeth II.

Tobias’s first official duty in his new role is to launch WaterAid’s winter campaign, Access Denied, which aims to raise $2 million to help get clean water and decent sanitation to poor communities around the world.

Tobias Menzies said:
“Having access to clean water and a decent toilet shouldn’t be a luxury. Yet access to these basic needs are being denied to millions of people around the world affecting the health, education and livelihoods of whole communities. Due to climate change, this situation is set to get even more challenging each year.

“I’m proud to become an ambassador for WaterAid, working with them to raise awareness of the urgent need to address this global crisis and supporting their efforts to transform lives across the world by ensuring more access to clean water and good sanitation.”

Kelly Parsons, U.S. Chief Executive of WaterAid, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Tobias Menzies as an ambassador for WaterAid and look forward to working together on highlighting how clean water, decent sanitation and good hygiene transform lives for good. These basic services form the foundations for overcoming poverty.

“We all have a role to play in making clean water and decent toilets a part of normal life for everyone everywhere by 2030, and Tobias’s support will help us engage more people in this important issue.”
