Arab Health congress explores revolutionary 3D bioprinting in its 41st Edition

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - DUBAI HEALTHCARE CITY, UAE - Jan 11, 2016 - In its 41st year, the Arab Health Congress, organised by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions, will provide a new perspective in the field of 3D medical printing and how it will revolutionize healthcare. The conference will focus on the surgical applications for 3D printing, 3D printing for drug discovery, bioprinting and vascularization, as well as look at the legal and ethical debates surrounding this technology.

3D bioprinting has enormous potential to save lives. Companies who are able to 3D print liver tissue, for instance, are scarce at the moment. The next step in the field of 3D bioprinting is being able to print complete organs such as the pancreas, kidney, liver and vascular networks. This procedure could significantly increase the chances of organ survival.

“The conference will focus on a new technology called ‘body-on-a-chip’, which has the ability to print mini hearts, livers and blood vessels on a chip. This could potentially provide more accurate testing for new new drugs and eradicate the need for animal testing,” says Simon Page, Managing Director, Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions.

The congress will cover several cutting-edge topics within the field of 3D bioprinting such as smart bioinks, 3D printing for disease discovers, 3D printing for disease models, challenges in printing in vitro 3D cancer models, 3D printing blood vessels, 3D printing vascular channels for thick tissue regeneration, and more.

Doctors can now also utilise 3D printers to create temporary tools that provide a precise “outline” of the patient’s organ or bone structure. This allows them to more precisely fit implants, or perform procedures and administer treatment. Using medical imaging and 3D-modeling technology, and custom-printed drilling guides, for instance, can ensure that screws, needles, or medication are placed precisely to ensure that the treatment is located correctly within a patient’s body.

The Arab Health Congress is known to deliver the highest quality of continuing medical education (CME) to medical professionals in the region. Attended by more than 13,000 delegates from around the globe, the conference programme brings a global appeal with international speakers covering a broad spectrum of medical specialities and disciplines.

The Arab Health Congress 2016 takes place from 25-28 January and will cover various topics in the conferences such as: Radiology, Paediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Big Data, Cardiovascular disease and Intervention, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Hypertension, 3D printing, orthopaedics, public health, quality management, rheumatology, surgery, medical laboratory, wound care, and more.
