Area Agency on Aging releases Request for Proposals for Community Care for the Elderly services

Lead Agencies sought to provide and coordinate senior services in Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry Lee, and Sarasota Counties in Florida.

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Jan 09, 2018 - The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) announces the availability of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the provision of Case Management/Lead Agency services funded through the State of Florida Community Care for the Elderly Program (F.S. 430).  Proposals will be accepted for the contract period beginning fiscal year 2018-2019 and ending fiscal year 2023-2024. The fiscal year begins July 1.

Community Care for the Elderly provides community-based services to help functionally impaired elders to live dignified and reasonably independent lives in their own homes, or in the homes of relatives or caregivers.  The primary goal of the community care service system is to prevent unnecessary institutionalization of elderly persons.

“The Area Agency on Aging is responsible for the administration of federal and state aging and disability funding and resources,” explains Marianne Lorini, President and CEO.  “That includes Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Lee and Sarasota Counties.  Our Lead Agencies are responsible for delivering vital services to our elder population in these counties.”

CCE Lead Agencies provide and coordinate services, including case management, for functionally impaired adults ages 60 and over. These services include, but are not limited to, homemaker and chore services, respite care, adult yywp day care, personal care services, home-delivered meals, counseling, information and referral and emergency home repair services. The Lead Agency must compile Community Care for the Elderly statistics and monitor subcontracts with agencies providing core services.

A bidders’ conference for prospective applicants will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 29 at the AAASWFL offices in North Fort Myers (15201 N. Cleveland Ave., Suite 1100).  At that time, AAASWFL will discuss the proposal, review process, and requirements. Attendance at the bidders’ conference is not mandatory. A summary of key questions and answers from the bidders’ conference will be posted on the AAASWFL website (http://www.aaaswfl.org) on January 31, 2018.

RFP documents may be obtained electronically by visiting the Area Agency on Aging’s website at http://www.aaaswfl.org/documents.  Applicants are required to tender notification of their intent to submit a proposal by 4:00 p.m. on February 5, 2018.  Sealed proposals are due to the AAASWFL by 3:00 p.m. on March 2, 2018.
