Press Release (ePRNews.com) - EASTLAND, Texas - Apr 05, 2016 - Arline Ketring celebrated her 100th birthday at Eastland Nursing & Rehabilitation, where she is currently living.
Ketring was born on March 5, 1916, in Elyria, Ohio to Donald and Gladys Horine. Her siblings included 2 girls and 1 boy. She grew up in Richmond, Indiana until she married on December 8, 1934, then they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ketring worked as a dress shop sales person.
“We are honored that we got to celebrate this milestone with Arline. It is not every day someone gets to say they helped plan a birthday for someone turning 100.”
The couple had 4 children, and Arline enjoys all 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
She enjoys her time reading and doing puzzles at Eastland Nursing & Rehabilitation.
“Turning 100 doesn’t feel any different than when I turned 90. I feel good,” said Ketring. According to Ketring, her greatest accomplishment was raising her four kids through the great depression. “The kids didn’t even know that we were going through a depression. We worked hard to provide for them.”
When asked what advice she has for younger generations, Ketring said, “Everyone should join the armed forces for discipline, honor and courage.”
