Press Release (ePRNews.com) - CARLSBAD, Calif. - Nov 21, 2017 - The Association for Creatine Deficiencies (ACD) welcomes Dr. Andreas Schulze, MD, Ph.D., who will be serving on the Scientific Medical Advisory Board, helping shape the future of CCDS research and therapy. Whitnie Strauss, ACD president, remarked, “Dr. Schulze is a world-renowned expert on creatine deficiencies and we are very excited about the contributions he will be making to ACD.”
Dr. Schulze received his MD and Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Leipzig, Germany. He has worked at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, since 2007 and has established his own research group with a focus on Cerebral Creatine Deficiency Syndromes, Regulation of Creatine Synthesis, Pathophysiology of Guanidino Compounds and Small Molecule Treatments. He is director of the Newborn Screening Program at the Hospital for Sick Children, as well as the section head of Metabolic Genetics. Dr. Schulze remarked, “I was the first to report and describe the full biochemical spectrum in GAMT Deficiency and have an ongoing interest in advancing research of creatine deficiencies. I am glad to join my colleagues in working towards these goals with ACD.”
