Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Jacksonville, Florida - Mar 31, 2016 - The Association of Veteran Friendly Employers (AVFE) has introduced a new resource for employers looking to “decode” specialized job experience and terminology used on military applicant’s resumes. The Veterans Aligned Skills Translator (VAST) is a searchable database of over 2,100 occupations across all branches of the U.S. Military, and consolidates more than 7,000 pages of career data and training, offering a one-stop resource for employers.
Employers want to hire veterans, but most have trouble aligning military experience and skills training with civilian job requirements, Our centralized platform of resources and best practices was designed to be easily incorporated into an employer’s existing process, without the need for complex software or comprehensive training.
AVFE was founded with the mission to “Help Employers Hire Heroes,” a goal achieved by offering a robust set of tools and resources developed with the employer in mind. VAST identifies military occupations are best suited for a position based on an employer’s key word, level of experience, certifications, business area, and/or industry. Additionally, all members may request Custom Skills Reports for specific positions should they require more in-depth analysis of which military jobs would be a good fit for their requirements.
Use of the Veterans Aligned Skills Translator is available exclusively to AVFE member employers and organizations. Memberships also include access to AVFE’s centralized resource library that includes information on federal and state incentives, regulations and policy, as well as self-paced e-Learning courses in areas including Military 101 and Reservists & National Guardsmen in the Workplace.
