For the past eight years, AST has been utilizing its complete and integrated biorefinery facilities (located in Wausau, WI) to maximize the exploitation of chemical energy from natural, renewable, and non-food resources. AST has developed a highly sustainable and economically viable organosolv process to convert cellulosic biomass into highly refined fermentable sugars, high quality lignin, and organic solvents. AST's cellulosic sugars and lignin are key intermediate products in supply chains for producing bio-chemicals, plastics, bio-fuels, and nutritional supplements for food. The aim of AST is to produce high quality sugars and lignin at competitive prices to not only displace petroleum-derived products, but also help to reduce carbon emissions.

AST and ECN Aim to Accelerate the Development of Lignin-Based Products

American Science and Technology (AST), a sustainable technology company, has agreed to begin sending shipments of its Organosolv lignin to the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN). This is a continuation of AST's ongoing efforts to speed up the…
