Campus Sexual Misconduct: New Guidance and Updated Title IX Requirements

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Oregon, OR, USA - Nov 02, 2017 - Edupliance announces webinar titled, “Campus Sexual Misconduct: New Guidance and Updated Title IX Requirements” that aims to provide attendees a detailed analysis of the new guidance as well as information that schools need to know with regards to sexual harassment/misconduct investigations and their obligations under Title IX. They will learn best-practice tips for conducting successful and complaint investigations, establishing a uniform burden of proof, as required in the new Q&A, and ensuring that both the victim and the accused receive a fair and unbiased process expected of them. The event going to be held LIVE on, October 31, 2017 from 1 PM (ET)/ 10 AM (PT).

On September 22, 2017, the U.S. Department of Education rescinded guidance from the previous administration and issued a new “Q&A on Campus Sexual Misconduct.” While there are a few areas that remain similar in the new guidance, the new document differs substantially from the guidance issued by the previous administration in a number of key areas, particularly with regards to Title IX requirements and responsibilities.

The 60-minute webinar will be conducted by expert Erin D. Gilsbach, Esq., who is one of the nation’s foremost experts on the topic of immigration and education law. She has presented on this topic at the National School Boards Association annual conference, the Education Law Association annual conference, and the North Dakota School Boards Association annual conference.  Atty. Gilsbach is an experienced speaker at the state and national levels on this issue as well as many other issues regarding Education and Education Law. She currently serves as the Director of Professional and Policy Development and an attorney with the PA-based law firm of King Spry Herman Freund &Faul and is a founding member of the Grey friars Institute, a nonprofit affiliate entity dedicated to providing quality professional education in the area of school law to educators and school leaders.

Webinar attendees will learn:

•    A quick, easy-to-understand comparison of the former guidance and the new guidance as well as a legal analysis of the new provisions.

•    An in-depth discussion of the significance of what was removed or modified and the implications of that removal.

•    Discussion of the obligations of Title IX Coordinators under this new guidance.

•    Specific information regarding compliance that is particularly relevant to Title IX Coordinators and school administrators.

•    Examination of case studies and real-life examples to illustrate the main points of this session.
