College Rugby 15s Championships This Weekend to Decide Women's NSCRO National Champion Featuring 4 Top Women's Teams

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - PHILADELPHIA - Nov 30, 2018 - This weekend, championships in men’s and women’s national college rugby 15s are at stake in two cities, as the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) will crown the women’s 15s National Champion in Marietta, Georgia, and the men’s 15s Region 2 Mid-Atlantic South Regional Champ in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The women’s National Championship gets underway on Saturday, December 1, at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on the campus of Life University, when Wayne State College (Region 4 West Champion from Wayne, Nebraska) meets Minnesota State University Moorhead (Region 3 Central Champion) in the first semi-final.  Region 1 Northeast Champion Salve Regina University (Newport, Rhode Island) meets Region 2 Mid-Atlantic South Champion Catholic University (Washington, D.C.) in the second semi-final at 1 p.m.

Sunday’s games in the women’s National Championship include an 11 a.m. match featuring the third and fourth place teams, while the National Championship title match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

All four games, as well as the awards ceremony Sunday afternoon, will be live streamed and available for free on the new NSCRO Women’s Rugby YouTube channel, available at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVk-w_Eqwtq_bg0LDWPgPxA.

Wayne State is returning to this year’s championship with hopes of making this their third win in a row. Minnesota State – Moorhead was the 2015 National Champion and is hoping to unseat Wayne State, while both Salve Regina and Catholic University are making their NSCRO National Championship debut this weekend.

In other college rugby action this weekend, NSCRO’s men’s 15s competition heats up this weekend with the Region2/Mid-Atlantic South Regional Championship at the Raleigh Rugby Club in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Semifinal matches on Saturday, December 1, begin at 12 Noon Eastern Time when Catholic University meets Eckerd College, with the second semi at 2 p.m. featuring Christendom College vs. Loyola (Maryland).

Sunday at 10 a.m. Eastern, the third and fourth place teams will match up, with the championship final slated for 12 Noon.

All the men’s matches and the award ceremony will be live streamed and available for free on the NSCRO Men’s Rugby YouTube channel, at  https://www.youtube.com/NSCRORugby.
