Delta Hotel Phoenix Mesa Becomes a Certified Autism Center™

Press Release ( - MESA, Ariz. - Sep 10, 2019 - Delta Hotel Phoenix Mesa has completed the process to become a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) that demonstrates the organization’s commitment to ensuring guests with autism and sensory sensitivities have the best possible experience. Delta Hotel completed evidence-based training, as well as an onsite review, and joins a growing number of organizations in Arizona and across the nation that are obtaining certification. This movement toward inclusion in Mesa, Arizona and the surrounding area was inspired by the work of Visit Mesa and that city’s goal to become the most autism inclusive destination in the world.

“The training that was provided to our team from the IBCCES was exceptional and will enable us to provide a best-in-class experience for travelers with autism and their families,” said Scott Snofsky, general manager of Delta Hotel Phoenix Mesa. “We are proud to be a part of this initiative between the IBCCES and Visit Mesa.”

Parents with children on the autism spectrum often find choosing vacation locales a challenge due to sensory needs, dietary restrictions and safety concerns. IBCCES recognized that many families with children who have special needs have limited travel options. In response to this need, IBCCES created training and certification programs specifically for the hospitality and travel industry. More parents are seeking out destinations that have completed research-based training and professional review as they search for options.

“We’re thrilled that another option is now available in Mesa to individuals with sensory needs. The demand is growing for trained and certified options, and organizations that aren’t meeting those needs are falling behind. The commitment the team at the Delta Hotel has demonstrated is impressive and exciting,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman. “

Delta Hotels is the newest member of Marriott Bonvoy™ and embraces the Marriott values: “Put People First, Pursue Excellence, Embrace Change, Act with Integrity, Serve our World.” These values align with the Phoenix Mesa location’s achievement of being recognized by IBCCES as a Certified Autism Center™.

IBCCES also created, a free online resource for parents that lists certified destinations and connects families to other resources and each other. Each destination listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center (CAC) requirements.
