Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Columbus, OH - May 23, 2016 - Now more Ohio residents can benefit from the convenience of online dermatology care visits, thanks to a new teledermatology solution offered by Dermatologists of Greater Columbus. The practice partnered with leading teledermatology platform provider, Iagnosis, Inc., of Pittsburgh, PA to offer the service locally. New and existing patients can access the practice’s board-certified dermatologist Matthew Zirwas, MD, online to get faster diagnosis and treatment plans for over 3,000 skin, hair and nail conditions when they need it.
To use the service, patients select Dr. Zirwas through his affiliate relationship with Dermatologists of Southwest Ohio by visiting http://www.dermswohio.com/teledermatology or by downloading the free Dermatologists of Southwest Ohio mobile app from the App Store or on Google Play™.
Teledermatology is showing excellent results in increasing patient access to care, and Dermatologists of Greater Columbus are particularly interested in using the platform to serve Ohio residents in more rural areas. It’s exciting to be able to leverage modern telemedicine solutions to deliver quality care while reducing the travel and scheduling burden to patients.
Dr. Zirwas says: “Teledermatology is showing excellent results in increasing patient access to care, and Dermatologists of Greater Columbus are particularly interested in using the platform to serve Ohio residents in more rural areas. It’s exciting to be able to leverage modern telemedicine solutions to deliver quality care while reducing the travel and scheduling burden to patients.”
Here’s how it works:
· An online visit with guides patients through several simple steps of creating a patient profile, collecting some medical history and uploading photos of the problem condition.
· After review, Dr. Zirwas provides a diagnosis and personalized treatment plan typically within 24 hours (and no longer than 3 business days), which includes routing necessary prescriptions to the patient’s preferred pharmacy.
· When medically necessary, the patient will be referred for an in-office visit.
Among the more than 3,000 conditions that can be reviewed online are acne, rashes, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, toenail fungus, suspicious moles, athlete’s foot, scabies, melanoma and other skin cancers. The service can also be used by parents or guardians to conduct online visits for children or others, without needing to miss work or school.
The online dermatology visit solution was built by Iagnosis, the largest provider of a teledermatology-exclusive platform currently used by more than 150 board-certified dermatologists across the U.S. The solution is compliant with HIPAA and HITECH national online healthcare information standards for patient security.
Says Iagnosis’ CEO, Dave Zynn: “Our mission is to partner with esteemed dermatologists like Dermatologists of Greater Columbus to increase patient access to quality healthcare. With a shortage of board-certified dermatologists in the U.S., some patients wait up to three months or longer for in-office appointments, and 65% of conditions instead are treated by primary care physicians, walk-in medical providers or via over-the-counter medications. Using today’s digital-age capabilities, healthcare meets easy-to-use apps to bring both time-saving and wellness benefits to patients and efficiencies for providers.”
