Press Release (ePRNews.com) - ATLANTA - Feb 16, 2018 - The Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation (“the Lighthouse”) is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a $100,000 vision services grant from the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation (GBHCMF). The funds will support the Lighthouse’s efforts to serve some of Georgia’s most isolated communities.
Twenty sites throughout the state have been selected for the vision-services expansion. All are high-poverty rural areas without a free or charity clinic, a federally qualified health center, or a local resource that offers vision-service assistance. The Lighthouse will work with local leaders and businesses to promote and execute a one-day clinic in each location.
“We are deeply grateful to the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation for the means to better serve our state’s underserved,” said Lighthouse Executive Director David M. Paule. “This award will make a tremendous difference to both the quality and quantity of healthcare odpik for Georgians living in rural areas without easy access to vision services.”
GBHCMF awards grants every year through a highly competitive application and review process, with preference given to organizations located within the state of Georgia. “It is our privilege to help share the love of Christ with others through a health care ministry,” said GBHCMF President and CEO Will Bacon. “We’re very excited about the Lighthouse’s plans for rural Georgians and expect great things from the vision-services program.”
