Press Release (ePRNews.com) - WASHINGTON - Oct 28, 2020 - GrainPro Inc. announced today the election of Ambassador Christopher Goldthwait as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Amb. Goldthwait, who joined the Board in 2007, succeeds Phil Villers, who served as Chairman for 25 years, from 1995 to 2020, and was President until 2019.
“It’s an honor to serve as GrainPro’s Board Chairman and help transition the company into a new era,” said Amb. Goldthwait. “GrainPro is a mission-driven company dedicated to improving lives globally, which is a personal shared mission.”
Amb. Goldthwait is the former US Ambassador to Chad, a former senior US Agriculture Department official and a leading expert on food security, agricultural systems and international development. His appointment is effective on October 20.
“It’s been an honor to help build GrainPro from a two-person operation in 1995 to a global company with 130 employees,” said Mr. Villers. “Most importantly, we never wavered from our core mission to use our unique, yet simple, hermetic storage technology to reduce hunger and poverty globally.”
Villers noted that GrainPro is now available in 115 countries and counts governments, multinationals and small farmers among its core clients.
“As my successor, I look forward to Chris doing a great job as Chairman,” continued Villers. “He is a diplomat, an agricultural expert, hard working and deeply committed to GrainPro’s social mission.”
GrainPro restructured its business and reorganized its senior management team in 2020 to better align the company with its social and environmental mission. The company, which is on track for 15% sales growth over last year, employs hermetic post-harvest storage systems to help build a just, equitable, and eco-sustainable world. The 27-year old green tech company operates principally in Africa, Asia and Latin American markets.
Continuing in their terms on the GrainPro Inc Board of Directors are: Linda Habgood, CEO of Delphos International; Renee Vasillos, Director of Agricultural Innovation, The Nature Conservancy; Arlene Mitchell, Executive Director, Global Child Nutrition Foundation; Mr. Villers; and GrainPro CEO Jordan Dey and GrainPro CFO, Jim Sherblom.
GrainPro manufactures post-harvest management systems suitable for organic, chemical-free storage, solar-drying, and transporting of dry agricultural commodities worldwide. GrainPro’s patented airtight technology ensures that valuable commodities are handled in a moisture-protected, insect-free, and mold-free environment and can maintain quality, taste and nutritional value of dried food for years.
