Press Release (ePRNews.com) - East Longmeadow, MA - Aug 15, 2016 - Hope and Life Press presents two of its Orthodox authors, the Russian-Maltese scholar Larisa Dmitrieva Micallef, Ph.D., and the Jordanian-American author and Huffington Post Passionista Hadel S. Ma’ayeh. Dmitrieva Micallef is the author of the book Divine Significance of Church Slavonic Letters, an exciting journey through the history of the Russian language and culture through Church Slavonic, available in English and Russian editions. Ma’ayeh is the author of the poetry book From the Heart: A Journey of Love, a journey of honesty, realism, and thoughtfulness. Dmitrieva Micallef and Ma’ayeh herewith speak about the importance to them of their faith in their work and daily life.

Who is God for you?

Dmitrieva Micallef: God is the invisible, inconceivable creator of the world, Who watches every person and leads those who have accepted Him; who have faith in Him.

Ma’ayehGod is love, mercy, and compassion, Who is above all else; my guide in life to attempt to be perfect like our Father in heaven is perfect, by showing the same mercy, love, and compassion as Christ taught us without judgment.

What is it like for you to have a personal relationship with Christ?

Dmitrieva Micallef: A personal relationship is our faith, through which we improve our personality. Our faith brings lots of miracles: it helps us cope with difficult situations in life, even illnesses. But to my mind, our faith is always connected with regular everyday prayers, visits to church, and good deeds. Through this we receive grace coming from God.

Ma’ayeh Jesus, our Lord, is my Savior; a gift to humanity, to save us from our sins and from the evils of this world. I accepted Christ as my personal Savior, thus He is my rock and protector, my Teacher, who taught me to take into my heart and mind the heart of His laws. God our Heavenly Father desires to be close to us and through His Son, Jesus Christ, it is now possible as God became man for our salvation.

What is the greatest grace you have received from God?

Dmitrieva Micallef: The strength to cope with grief. It is a grace to recuperate so fast (even the next day) after big trouble. It is also a grace to have lots of energy for different commitments and not to be tired at the end of a busy day.

Ma’ayehI see the blessings from God in my life every day. I am graced with wonderful family and friends, but most of all God’s graces of our good health, love, and peace.

Who has God been for you in your life?

Dmitrieva Micallef: God is the one Who grants me every day of life, health, opportunity to work, and everything I have in life. He leads me in the way I must go.

Ma’ayehChrist is my everything in life: He is my God, friend, crutch, Teacher, Protector, my rock. His Father is my Father in good and hard times.

What have been the greatest obstacles for you in relationship with Him?

Dmitrieva Micallef: Sins are always obstacles and move me away from God. If we do not pray, we move away from Him and it becomes more difficult to overcome our sins. Regular prayer and sincere repentance help us to avoid sins.

Ma’ayehMy greatest obstacles are to perceive blessings that are in disguise. I struggle to comprehend why prayers were not answered, for example, and why awful circumstances happen in all our lives. God’s will is not without reason, seeing as what God permits or does not permit is for our well-being on earth, and for our salvation.

How do you desire others to come to know God?

Dmitrieva Micallef: Everyone should come to God, because everything that happens in our life is His will, permissive or otherwise. We should not be against His will, but accept whatever He gives us or allows us to experience. Those who believe in God and hope that He will be merciful to us, will not suffer from disappointment, or they can overcome difficult obstacles in life and remain blissfully happy.

Ma’ayeh: I desire the lost and the lonely to find peace and love in God. To know Jesus is the path (Hodos) to alleviate them from sorrows and misery. Some people feel lost and alone in this world, so they might take drugs or drink excess alcohol, for instance, as escapism. I wish for them to be consoled through God’s love and to find humility and fulfillment in Christ’s words.

How do you wish to meet Him when your time comes?

Dmitrieva Micallef: Ready to receive Him. It is important to always do good deeds and remain kind to everyone, to love and respect all people in the world and forgive mistakes and be patient. It is also necessary to receive Holy Communion regularly, because it will make your soul pristine, which is needed to meet Him.

Ma’ayeh: I wish to see Jesus with open arms and a smile, welcoming me into His kingdom.

What few words of wisdom do you wish to impart to others?

Dmitrieva MicallefGod loves us all despite our sins and waits us to be part of Him through sincere Holy Communion. In our daily life, we should remember that God gives us what we have and permits us to experience difficulties, to look back and analyze our life. Life in God is always simple.

Ma’ayehGod is love and to know love is to know God. He wishes the faithful to be an example of Christ’s love and words by expressing humility, empathy, forgiveness, and love toward one another, to draw all unbelievers to Himself.
