Press Release (ePRNews.com) - PETALUMA, Calif. - Jul 06, 2018 - How can employee satisfaction increase productivity and retention? According to a study, when fundraisers were thanked for their work, they made 50 percent more phone calls than fundraisers who did not feel appreciated. The same article reported that other factors contributing to employee happiness are “pride, fairness and respect, and feeling appreciated.” Brandon Frere, CEO and startup launch expert, believes business owners need to find new ways to increase happiness in the workplace.
“Not only is it good for morale, but the numbers show productivity increases when employees are happy,” says Frere. “It’s a delicate balance, especially for lean startups. How do business leaders offer valuable work perks when they have a tight budget?”
Perhaps the adage “quality not quantity” applies in this situation. Instead of offering rooms for ping pong and nap pods, businesses could look at what really makes their employees feel valued. Workers aged 18-34 prefer learning and positive feedback, while more experienced executives like their freedom and influence. Another factoid points out that American companies spend over $100 billion on employee benefits, but saying “Thank You” is free and is highly valued. Employers could also encourage peer-to-peer recognition with a tool to help improve motivation. For example, 70 percent of employees find more value in being recognized than financial incentives. Other positive motivations are fun work environments and praise from superiors.

“Business owners should strive to make a positive impact on their employees,” added Frere. “But you can’t make every day perfect. Work with your Human Resources team and get feedback from employees about how to improve morale. Then act on the insights you receive. Your organization will appreciate your efforts, and you will very likely see a boost in output.”
Workers spend a third of their lives at work, and most need that time to be meaningful. Some experts recommend offering telecommuting, which leads to 13 percent more productivity than workers in offices. Wellness programs with customizable features also improve the health and output of employees. Employers have many ways to show appreciation to their employees. Some methods are simple and common sense, like saying “Thank You,” while others require a comprehensive overhaul of the employee benefit package.
“Whatever you decide to do, be sure to ask your stakeholders for their input. You may not be able to respond to their more expensive requests when your business first starts out, but you can easily show recognition in feasible ways,” noted Frere.

He has designed and created multiple companies to meet the ever-demanding needs of businesses and consumers alike. As experienced during his own student loan repayment, Mr. Frere found out how difficult it can be to work with federally contracted student loan servicers and the repayment programs designed to help borrowers. Through those efforts, he gained an insider’s look into the repayment process and the motivations behind the inflating student loan debt bubble. His knowledge of the confusing landscape of student loan repayment became a vital theme in his future endeavors, and he now uses those experiences to help guide others through the daunting process of applying for available federal repayment and loan forgiveness programs.
