Kurowski Shultz Senior Associate, Kyler H. Stevens, Wins Personal Jurisdiction Motion for Four Clients in Asbestos Case

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - St. Louis, MO - Mar 21, 2016 - The Court cited the U.S. Supreme Court’s Daimler AG v. Bauman, stating “A district court sitting in Illinois must inquire whether the “defendant has certain minimum contact with [the State] such that the maintenance of the suit does not offend `traditional notions of fair play and substantial justice.'” Daimler AG, 134 S.Ct. 746 (2014). The Court found it lacked general jurisdiction over Plaintiffs’ claims as the defendants principal places of business were outside Illinois and defendants affiliations with Illinois were “not “so continuous and systematic” as to render Defendants at home in Illinois.”
