His understanding of the strategic decision-making process inside CPG and retail firms and his grasp of LatAm’s diverse consumer markets will provide a huge boost to our practice,” says John Price, Managing Director of AMI.
Cárdenas joins AMI after a distinguished career in leadership positions with several global companies. After starting his career in Mexico for Johnson & Johnson, Cárdenas grew from marketing and sales positions to Managing Director for Gatorade/Quaker Oats, supervising projects across Latin America. Cárdenas then handled a variety of executive roles for Molson Coors Brewing Company in the USA and in emerging markets, including Regional Vice President, Chief Multicultural Officer and Chief Officer, Emerging Markets. Most recently, he served as Head of International Markets for Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, with global responsibility.
In his Senior Advisor role with AMI’s consumer/retail practice, Cárdenas will focus on two key areas: competitive intelligence and strategic consulting. “The CPG industry faces competition from lower-cost producers, disruptive new products and affinity brands. Going to market has never been more complex in an age of changing household makeup, consumer health consciousness, e-commerce and omni-channel evolution and stricter regulations around environmental impact,” says Cárdenas. “As such, the practice will be focused on helping companies understand and handle those changes through competitive intelligence (CI) and strategic analysis support and guidance.”
