Outlining some of the rookie mistakes that one can avoid during horse riding, the Senior Instructor at Columbia Horse Center explained, “Immediately the horse takes his first steps, most rookies lean forward and let their heels rise high. You should avoid this at all cost, or otherwise, you risk falling. Rather, sit upright in the saddle. Press your heels downwards towards the ground and the balls of your feet in the stirrups. This is important because in the horse world when you lean forward, it translates to ‘go faster’. Besides, pressing the heels down makes you sink deeper into the saddle.
With so many riding facilities available, picking the best one can often be overwhelming. Most people are stuck wondering which one will provide them with the value of their time and money. Columbia Horse Center has strived to set itself apart from its peers by investing in their staff, facilities, horses, and everything that will make their client’s riding a joy. Their state-of-the-art equestrian facility seats in 88 acres of land that’s located only 10 minutes away from Columbia town, and amidst Baltimore and Washington D.C. It features 100 stalls, heated wash stall, two indoor and outdoor rings, a cross-country course, as well as tack rooms.
“Majority of new riders tend to hold their reins for way too long, and their hands are positioned way above their chest, instead of their bellies. When you hold the reins, make sure that your horse has enough stack in them so they can freely move without you exerting pressure on their mouth. Also, be keen not to hold it too loose. Pull the rein toward your belly as opposed to your ears. The horse will not only respond better but also appreciate it. If you’re determined to learn horse riding in Maryland, we offer the best in class. Visit us any day Monday through to Friday from nine to nine or over the weekend from nine to six. You can also contact us today,” concluded the Senior Instructor.
The Columbia Horse Center has one of the best horse barns in Maryland. They are always clean, and organized.
