More Irish Women Buying Abortion Pills Online, than Seeking Abortion in UK

Press Release ( - DUBLIN 8, Iceland - May 18, 2016 - ( The number of Irish females visiting Britain for pregnancy termination has dropped the reason more women buying abortion pills online, given restrictions over accessing the services in local clinic or obtaining the medicines from local pharmacy. New analysis from the Department of Health in Britain depicts that 3,451females from the Republic traveled to UK for pregnancy ending last year, which fell from 6,671 figures in 2001. It was noted that in 2014 the Heath Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) rejected 1,017 unit abortion pill doses, which are legally unavailable in the Irish regions.

But, it is possible to get vague figures to it, though impossible to quantify how much the medications to end pregnancy are used in Ireland itself or the abortion services obtained in Britain. However, there is a significant decrease in the number of women seeking the pregnancy termination processes in UK, as reported by hospitals and clinics in the British land.

The HSE says its data from HPRA deduces that women may be ordering the tablets from internet platforms. If a woman takes the tablet and has bad pain, prolonged heavy bleeding, complications or fainting, the she must attend an emergency care as this is an important precaution to avoid any harmful condition that can develop during ending pregnancy. The person must head straight to GP without delay under such circumstances. As per IFPA figures, the recent abortion figures for Ireland are not yet available.

If a female makes decision to get pregnancy terminated, it is safer for her to visit a clinic first in the UK or other region where the procedure is legal than taking the medicines from websites or any sources and using it alone in home. If women buy abortion pill without knowing the pregnancy length or if it is intra-uterine, the person can face certain complications. The individual must assure she is capable or suitable for utilizing the tablets before going ahead with medical pregnancy ending regimen.

The findings are latest about abortion figures of Irish women in or outside the country, which are attained from various sources. However, it may not give a true picture about women’s access to pregnancy termination services. The British account on pregnancy endings for women outside their country is not yet included in the reports magnanimously, but may be recorded soon to furnish any real analysis. The Pro Life Campaign think that fall in pregnancy terminations are seen from last 14 years, and may not actually reflect the trend of taking tablets from the internet.
