Myeyewear2go: You Can Still Use Reading Glasses With Real Glass Lenses

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Middlesex, NJ - Nov 28, 2016 - We live in a world of scientific miracles. We have drones we can control from pocket-sized computers, and we can find the answer to nearly any question by asking an artificial intelligence. We have cybernetic prosthetic limbs, and green energy is steadily replacing older, dirtier fossil fuels. We can even correct our damaged vision with laser surgery; something that would have been considered little more than laughable science fiction half a century ago.

However, even with all this progress, and all these technologically advanced options, sometimes it’s best to utilize an old-fashioned option. If all you need is a pair of reading glasses, after all, there are plenty of options that still use actual, honest-to-goodness glass in them.

You Can Still Use Reading Glasses with Real Glass Lenses

While a lot of us still wear glasses, we could more accurately call them plastics. Plastic lenses are lighter in weight (most of the time), they’re a lot more durable than glass, and they’re just as recyclable. However, plastic lenses are more expensive, by and large, than glass lenses. And if you only need your glasses for reading, then why pay the extra expense?

Real glass lenses in reading glasses have all the benefits of glass lenses, without many of the drawbacks. For example, glass lenses tend to be heavier, which can mean they leave indentations on the nose. Unless you’re reading for hours at a time, though, you won’t be wearing these glasses long enough for them to feel like a burden. While glass is always going to be more fragile than plastic (it is glass, after all), reading glasses can easily be kept in a protective case when you’re not using them. And since you won’t need them all the time, you don’t have to worry about the hazards of your day-to-day breaking them, and leaving your helpless.

More Than Just Specs

While you can get any old pair of reading glasses with glass lenses, you aren’t limited to the standard black, standard-issue frames. Another advantage of glass lenses is that they’re still common enough that you’ll find all kinds of eye wear options to suit you, and your particular wants and needs.

For example, if you have simple tastes and you just want something to help you read, you could get a standard pair of reading glasses that have no frills, and no decoration. That is far from the only option available. You could get something with wire rims, for example, or you could get a pair of glasses with a dual-fold so they can fit in an even smaller case. There are also magnifiers that hang around the neck, disguised as a pendant or other accessory, until you need them. That way you always have your reading glasses close to hand, but you don’t have to worry about a lack of pockets, or laying your glasses down somewhere that you can’t find them again.

A Plethora of Choices

We haven’t eliminated defects of the eye from the population just yet, but until we finally find the cure for every vision problem out there, we have all kinds of corrective measures we can take. While there are contact lenses, glasses, monocles (which are making quite the comeback), and other options, it’s important for you to examine the field, and get the choice that’s best for you.

And if you want the weight and reliability of glass lenses, well, that’s easy enough to manage.
