Press Release (ePRNews.com) - STAMFORD, England - Oct 19, 2016 - The Club’s stand, number 220 in hall one, will feature eight cars, dating from 1886 to 2005, and Club Members who have taken advantage of the advance-booked discounted tickets will also have the chance of winning some great prizes in the free draw to be held on the stand.
These prizes include a crossing to Spain and back for a car and two passengers with Brittany Ferries, the latest in-car camera from Pakatak and a set of Clearview hazard warning lights. All Members who visit the stand will also be able to enjoy its Members’ Café with free tea or coffee and biscuits.
The cars on the stand will include a replica of the 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen – generally accepted as the world’s first production motor car. This is being kindly loaned by Mercedes-Benz UK, but everything else on display, including all the other cars, are being provided by the Club and its Members.
The other cars are a 190SL, the increasingly sought-after 1950s and 60s sports car; a beautiful but very useable 1971 280SE 3.5 coupé and a 1988 300SE – an example of the S-Class that has repeatedly led the industry in terms of quality and technical innovation.
A new feature this year will be a car for the Club’s Technical Team to use to show what to look out for in an entry-level classic – the car chosen is a 300D from the late 1980s. A rather more exotic W124 on display will be a 1991 500E – one of the true ‘Q-cars’ – its V8 power unit endowing this, at first glance, conservative saloon with super-car performance.
The Mercedes-Benz marque has had a number of anniversaries in 2016 and the Club will be acknowledging some of these. The presence of a 230TE will honour the W123 range’s 40th birthday, an SLK230 will be marking 20 years since the smaller sports car was introduce and a CLK55 AMG cabriolet the same anniversary for the smaller coupés.
Anyone joining the Club at the show will have the normal £5 joining fee waived and receive a Meguair’s Wash & Wax car care kit, worth £25. The annual subscription is from just £35 per year if paid by direct debit.
