The Toronto #1 Toastmasters Club was chartered on May 23, 1953.
At Toronto #1 Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Our club is made up of 30 – 40 people who meet weekly for two hours. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice:
* Giving impromptu speeches. Members present one minute impromptu speeches on assigned topics. * Presenting prepared speeches. Three or more members present speeches every week based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Program manuals. Projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice modulation, using good language, hand and body gestures, using visual aids, and persuasion. * Offering constructive evaluations. Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement. * Conducting meetings. Every meeting has a short business session which helps members learn basic meeting procedures.
Guests are always welcome. Join us for a meeting to see if our club is right for you!
We meet every Monday from 6:30–8:30pm beginning on the first Monday after Labour Day to the last Monday in June (except holidays).
