The University of Missouri Extension Business Development Program (BDP) is a statewide network which helps businesses succeed in every stage from concept to startup, growth to renewal, mature to succession through a variety of programs.

In addition to MU Extension offices, business counselors are based on each of the campuses of the University of Missouri and at other public higher education institutions throughout Missouri. Our website provides access to information, assistance and training to help businesses compete in a rapidly changing world.

BDP specialists work with a wide variety of companies each year. The economic impact many of those firms realize is self-reported by the business owners themselves.

Programs include:

–The Missouri Small Business & Technology Development Centers (MO SBTDC), which provide professional business analysis, business consultations, access to technology resources and educational training seminars on a variety of business topics

–The Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (MO PTAC), which assists businesses — including small, disadvantaged and women owned firms — in obtaining federal, state and local government contracts

–The Mid-America Trade Adjustment Assistance Center (TAAC), which equips U.S. manufacturers in three states to proactively respond to import competition
The Missouri Environmental Assistance Center (MOEAC), a one-stop resource for pollution prevention, environmental compliance and energy-savings assistance

–The BDP Workforce Program, which assists dislocated workers and others seeking information on occupations and job training.

From 2013 through 2015, the BDP assisted thousands of Missouri firms create or retain 24,180 jobs, increase sales by $439 million, acquire new investments of $419.6 million and win government contracts of $1.4 billion. The BDP is a solid return on investment, creating $119 of economic impact for every $1 invested and creating one job for every $930 in total funding.
