Press Release (ePRNews.com) - AL BARSHA, UAE - Nov 06, 2016 - Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba” or “the Group,” Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, announced that it has been named a ‘Tier 1’ antenna supplier by industry analyst EJL Wireless Research. Comba also retained its longstanding position – which it has held since 2011 – among the world’s top three suppliers by unit volume. This ranking follows a rise in deployments of Comba’s new generation of ultra-wideband compact 4G antennas, which provide a rapid fix for weak network coverage in high-traffic areas. According to Comba, the Middle East and Africa region, which is headed for the strongest mobile data growth in the world at an estimated compound annual growth rate of 71% in the lead up to 2020, has shown a growing interest in the new antenna systems to tackle bandwidth bottlenecks.
In its report, EJL Wireless included Comba as one of only five companies globally in the highest category. The report further noted that in actual terms, the Tier 1 antenna suppliers collectively controlled more than 75% of total shipments in 2015, up from 70% in 2014. In 2015, the top three suppliers, including Comba, shipped more than 2.7 million units.
Carol Ye, Deputy General Manager, Antennas and Subsystems of Comba Telecom, said: “We work hard to serve our customers in more than 80 countries and develop technology for their practical, large-scale needs. This value transcends industry changes, and I credit it for how we’ve remained a global leader while the wireless industry has evolved. We’re delighted to be recognised as a Tier 1 antenna supplier by EJL Wireless Research every year since 2011.”
To serve global customer needs over time, Comba has developed a comprehensive portfolio of wireless products and services, including the antenna category. In addition to base station antennas highlighted in the EJL Wireless Research report, Comba offers cluster antennas, camouflage antennas, indoor antennas, radio frequency conditioning and select categories of subsystems.
“The Middle East has seen a rapid escalation in its mobile data traffic over the last few years. Compact, multi-band, active-mode and intelligent solutions are the need of the hour in terms of next-generation antenna technologies. Based on the results of Comba’s research into miniaturisation technology, our compact antenna technology provides solutions to network construction issues, boosts efficiency and slashes costs associated with building base stations,” commented Hazim Al-Rawi, General Manager for the Middle East region at Comba.
Comba’s Tier 1 recognition from EJL Wireless Research is due not only to its market share but also to its R&D capabilities, such as its joint efforts with the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) for smart city and Internet of Things (loT) technology, recently resulting in a Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) Platform showcased at the CTIA Super Mobility show in the United States.
