Pyxis Launches to Serve the IT Industry

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Albany, NY - Jan 17, 2018 - The Board of Directors of Pyxis announces the formal launch of this United States-based not-for-profit professional association that will bring IT industry and other related business functions together to advance careers, standards, and performance through leadership, networking, education, training and innovation.  As a professional association, Pyxis focuses on maximizing the value of best practices through the integration of best practices, capabilities, and disciplines.

Pyxis takes its name from a constellation in the southern sky. Abbreviated from Pyxis Nautica, its name is Latin for a mariner’s compass. The Board of Directors thought it was very appropriate to choose this symbol as the new association’s logo—as Pyxis will be charting a new course for IT.

The four points of the Pyxis compass are critical areas that must be seamlessly integrated to maximize the value of technology:

  • Business Acumen
  • Agile Practice
  • Service Management
  • Enterprise Architecture, Security, and other Emerging Practices

I believe the IT industry needs a unifier. The IT industry continues to introduce numerous approaches, best practices, and other strategies for maximizing its value. With so many from which to choose, Pyxis is helping our profession to integrate business acumen, agile practices, service management, enterprise architecture, security and other emerging practices.

Jay Stuart

Pyxis Board of Directors

With organizations heavily relying on technology and so much changing in the industry, Pyxis seeks to be a catalyst for conversation about the change needed to reach a new tipping point so the dynamics of the IT evolution can be better understood, promoted, and shared among IT organizations, business functions, professional associations, and the industry as a whole.

With rapid growth and advancements in best practices in the service management sector, there is a clear need for a professional association that focuses on helping professionals build their business acumen, as well as understand how to integrate best practices to maximize the value of the various frameworks and standards for the business.

This is why Pyxis was founded and what the new association is working hard to achieve.

Pyxis is developing intellectual property for business acumen, which will take the form of an interactive learning experience for IT professionals to understand the business and the implication of their decisions more clearly.

Membership in Pyxis offers the following benefits:

  • Quarterly access to free and deeply-discounted virtual training sessions (live and recorded)
  • Discounted registration to “Decoder Ring for the Entire Ecosystem”, the Pyxis 2018 Roadshow
  • Career Guidance and Advice
  • Curated Industry Articles and Insights
  • White Papers and articles dedicated to integrating best practices in transforming and maximizing the value of Information Technology
  • Member e-News and other industry updates
  • Access to Pyxis Communities and Forums
  • Research (coming later in 2018)
  • Being part of an exciting new venture that is going to unify IT.

Reaction to Pyxis and its work is coming in:

A new member offers: “I became a member of Pyxis because of their focus on understanding business and applying business skills to IT.  They are going to spark a fundamental shift in how the industry thinks about providing IT services.  I want to be a part of that conversation as it is long overdue.  Best practices play a role but the business conversation and business skills are the most important aspect of being successful when I work with my business partners.”

Another new member built this business case: “I have a genuine interest in the industry knowledge of how IT frameworks are being integrated and see this as ongoing dialogue between the architecture, agile practices, and support of the IT offerings.”

Pyxis Director Jay Stuart shares why he helped found Pyxis: “I accepted the invitation to became a board member of Pyxis because I believe the IT industry needs a unifier.  The IT industry continues to introduce numerous approaches, best practices, and other strategies for maximizing its value.  With so many from which to choose, Pyxis is helping our profession to integrate business acumen, agile practices, service management, enterprise architecture, security and other emerging practices.  That’s why Pyxis was formed and why I agreed to be a leader of the movement.”

The first training program of Pyxis’ inaugural year takes place on February 7, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. ET with SolutionWise™ Max4, one of the KEPNER and FOURIE’s strategic decision making & solution building processes.  This process helps IT professionals design and build unique decisions with confidence that there will be a successful outcome.  The training offers information and options for strategic advantage, to help participants become a solution-focused leader with innovative solutions to seemingly unsolvable problem situations.  SolutionWise Max4 is a tested approach that finds cost-effective, in-house actions to fix any problem situation effortlessly and rapidly.  Omnikron will be conducting the class.
