Now the owner of the Mixtape Sessions label (named after his longtime internet radio show) and Honeycomb Music, Cruz unveils his latest book, “Free the Music Business: Tips & Tales From an Indie Music Nerd.”
Within the book, Cruz shares his fast-paced journey through the complicated world of streaming music. In a distinctive narrative style, he chronicles the diminishing value of music, the rise of streaming services and the changing attitudes of music lovers. Cruz shares tips and tales from his experience as an executive at West End Records during the early 2000s, when the label was reactivated by its founder, the late Mel Cheren.
“Free the Music Business…” is the culmination of Cruz’s experience with working and recording with some of dance music’s biggest talents as well as research collected for the Freedom Radio Hour, a music business radio show he produces and co-hosts with longtime collaborator Eddie Nicholas.
