Press Release (ePRNews.com) - SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Oct 03, 2017 - The Sacramento Dentistry Group first introduced its patients to intraoral digital scans with the iTero system in 2014. In that year they stopped using the traditional and sticky dental molds that patients bite to create an impression of their teeth. Instead, they started using the iTero to digitally scan the teeth, creating an accurate 3-D image used to make close-fitting crowns, bridges, and orthodontics, like Invisalign. Now the Sacramento Dentistry Group announces that it has upgraded to the newest iTero system, the Element.
Improvements in the iTero
While the iTero was already a vast improvement over dental molds, both in terms of convenience and accuracy, the new iTero takes this advantage even further.
- Size: the iTero Element is smaller, providing more space in the procedure room. It also uses a smaller scanner, meaning that patients don’t have to open their mouth quite so wide.
- Speed: Previously, the iTero captured one scan per second. Now it captures twenty!
- Touch Control: With the increasing advancements in touchscreen technology, the iTero can now be controlled in the same manner, making it easier to manipulate images.
- Motion Scanning: Previously, the iTero worked like a camera without video — scans were taken with a “click.” Now they are made with “scan in motion” technology, so the process of imaging a jawline is even easier and more convenient for both dentist and patient.
As a result of these improvements, patients needing restorations and orthodontics spend less time in the dental chair and more time with better oral health.
