Press Release (ePRNews.com) - BUEA, Cameroon - Aug 30, 2016 - Saint Monica University (SMU): The American International University today announced that Dr. Mary Louisa Lum has been appointed Associate Vice President of Student Affairs. She will report to the Vice President of Administration and Finance, while supervising the divisions of Career & Alumni Services, Counseling & Disability Issues, and Extra-Curricular Activities including Sports and Music.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Lum to Saint Monica University and we are positive that she invigorate our University community,” said Professor Januarius Jingwa (JJ) Asongu, President and Chief Executive Officer of SMU. “The Office of Student Affairs is critically engaged in all aspects of students’ lives and collaborates with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and many others in the delivery of key services and support to students and all whom the Office serves.”
According to Dr. Mary Louisa Lum, who holds a PhD in English Literature, “The Office of Student Affairs provides programs and services that support the optimal growth of SMU students, enhance their intellectual, social, cultural and physical development, and complement SMU’s academic excellence by providing opportunities for students to experience education and explore interests beyond the classroom.”
Also serving in the Office of Student Affairs is Mr. Joseph Forsuh Muyamah, Director of Career & Alumni Services. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from SMU and a Bachelor of Philosophy. Mr. Muyamah also began studying for a Master in Philosophy before coming to SMU, where he has taught both in the Schools of Arts, Education and Humanities as well as that of Business and Public Policy.
Mr. Roland Tabeta is serving as Director of Counseling & Disability Issues. He is also the University Librarian since last year. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from SMU.
The Director of Extra-Curricular Activities, which will focus on Sports and Music, will be Mr. Bertrand Bua Nyoh. He holds a Bachelor of Education and is working on his MBA in Human Resource Management. He is charged with building a choir of international standards at SMU and coordinating sporting and other extra-curricular activities at the University.
