Sharp Australia set out to inform consumers about the convenience of microwave oven cooking and how they can achieve perfect cooking results through the new Live Smart. Live Sharp. campaign.

A result of extensive research completed by Canstar Blue to determine exactly what consumers want in a microwave, Live Smart. Live Sharp. aims to educate consumers on how microwaves can be used beyond the traditional sense and debunk myths such as misconceptions about the safety of microwave cooking and the effects of radiation.

The research that inspired Live Smart. Live Sharp. focused on three main tiers – what consumers want in a microwave, how they use their microwaves and purchasing factors. Notable findings showed that majority of consumers are only using their microwaves for reheating and defrosting even though it was also revealed that 23% considered features a key purchasing factor*. Additional findings revealed that even heat distribution, ease of use, appearance and design were among the top desirables that consumers had for a microwave. Thanks to the Smart Technology, Creation and Design incorporated into all Sharp microwave ovens, the company is already ticking the boxes for what consumers really want. Features such as the Inverter / Sensor solve issues with even heat distribution while Auto Menus and simple control panels make the appliances a breeze to use. Furthermore, Sharp’s large variety of sizes, colours and designs mean consumers are always able to select a microwave to suit their appearance and design preferences.

Live Smart. Live Sharp. revolves around four main categories – Smart Technology, Smart Design, Smart Auto Menu and Smart Recipes. With each serving a unique educational purpose, the four categories will help Australian consumers understand the best product for their lifestyle and how each smart feature can be used to full potential.

The first step in Live Smart. Live Sharp. is a range of over 50 quick, easy and healthy recipes designed for creation with Sharp microwaves. Selected recipes will feature instructional videos and all recipes have been created using locally sourced Australian produce, showing consumers how to get the most out of their microwave. In addition to the new site, Sharp Australia will be pushing the message in-store via POS material to reach the consumer direct. Sharp will also be running an online competition, giving consumers the opportunity to submit their favourite Microwave recipe.

Smart Technology

Sharp understand that everyone is busy with day to day life and require appliances that save time and provide versatility and convenience when cooking in the kitchen. The innovative smart technologies in selected Sharp microwave ovens have been developed with the Australian consumer in mind, letting you ‘Live Smart’. These technologies include the Smart Inverter to provide faster, even cooking and heat distribution and a Smart Humidity Sensor which automatically determines cook and reheat times, both providing the consumer with perfect cooking results.
