Short Film 'The Letter' Wins Art With Impact's Mental Health Short Film Competition

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - San Francisco, California - Oct 03, 2016 - Art With Impact (AWI) is excited to congratulate Brian A. Ross for his film ‘The Letter‘, which recently became the 29th winning film in AWI’s OLIVE Film Collection. The film follows a heartbroken and struggling New Yorker who finds the writing of his suicide letter punctuated by a chance meeting with a mysterious woman (and a sweater-wearing dog) who may ultimately save his life.

Hopefully this film will help open a dialogue to communicate that you’re not alone.

Brian A. Ross, Filmmaker of ‘The Letter’

Homegrown out of the hills of Eastern Kentucky, Brian left the bluegrass state in 2004 to pursue a career in film and television. He attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he wrote, directed and produced a number of award-winning student films. After graduating in 2006, Brian went on to write for TV programs airing on NBC, USA, MTV, TLC, and VH1, and received numerous accolades about his web series ‘Big Country Blues’. He currently lives in Los Angeles and continues to draw on his unique southern roots to inform his storytelling and ignite his passion to work and create.

Art With Impact’s monthly film competition awards one winning filmmaker a $1,000 cash prize for a film — up to five minutes in length and of any genre — that uses mental health as the point of interest. Film topics may either be interpretive of mental health, or address it directly. Winning films are added to AWI’s diverse OLIVE film collection, which is used in educational outreach programs.
