Press Release (ePRNews.com) - LYNGE, Denmark - Aug 28, 2017 - Cembrane and CERAFILTEC have signed a strategic alliance agreement jointly pursuing the sizable demand for its technologies to treat drinking and waste water in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
“We have been working with CERAFILTEC for more than two years. They have developed an unparalleled module and housing for our world-leading Silicon Carbide (SiC) ceramic flat sheet membrane,” stated Lasse Andreassen, CEO and co-founder of Cembrane. “Today’s announcement is the result of those efforts to launch the most compact corrosion-free, high flux ultrafiltration (UF) module on the market.”
The companies have entered into a strategic alliance allowing Cembrane exclusive access to the CERAFILTEC filtration module and their process expertise. This will provide a unique product to the Cembrane OEM customers and ensure the technology is utilized to its fullest potential.
Today’s announcement is the result of those efforts to launch the most compact corrosion-free, high flux ultrafiltration (UF) module on the market.
The module is a 100% injected molded design, free of stainless steel parts, with interchangeable membrane plates, integrated sprinkler and permeate lines. With this new corrosion-free module design, Cembrane will penetrate the $2 billion and fast-growing Seawater desalination segment. It will also be very effective in the oil and gas produced water applications. In addition, CERAFILTEC will strengthen the market position of Cembrane’s technology for drinking water in Saudi Arabia and Jordan, where the government has classified ceramic flat sheet membranes as best available technology in Brackish water RO pretreatment, which represents a potential of $100 million.
The partnership between Cembrane and CERAFILTEC has already resulted in five orders, three drinking water projects and two wastewater projects in Middle East (3), South East Asia (1) and Scandinavia (1) with a total treatment capacity of more than 30,000 m3/day. To meet the market demand, Cembrane has also agreed to invest in expanding production capacity to 140,000 m2 of membranes per year.
