Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Pordenone, Italy - May 10, 2016 - A survey carried out by the newly formed Pordenone chapter of the Association for Human Rights and Tolerance found local residents are sadly lacking in an understanding of their rights.
Located in Northeastern Italy, the group launched their activities with a survey to gauge local awareness of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
“Human rights must be mad a fact, not an idealistic dream.”
The survey asked:
- Have you heard of human rights and do you know what they are?
- Do you know how many human rights there are?
- Are you aware of human rights violations?
While most of those surveyed were aware of human rights abuses, they were not aware of the 30 rights delineated by the UDHR and at best could name only a few.
Those participating in the survey were given the booklet, What Are Human Rights?, published by Youth for Human Rights International, that provides a simple, illustrated description of each of these 30 rights.
The Association for Human Rights and Tolerance is a non-profit organization incorporated in 2004 to promote the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a foundation for common endeavor among the nations and peoples of the Earth.
The new group is collecting signatures on a petition to mandate human rights education in Italy schools. The Association for Human Rights and Tolerance works closely with the Church of Scientology and carries out many joint projects with the Church to promote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Scientologists on six continents engage in collaborative efforts with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to bring about broad-scale awareness and implementation of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “Human rights must be mad a fact, not an idealistic dream,” and Scientologists are dedicated to bringing this about.
