Target-Hydraulics to Construct a New Electric Testing Facility for Mini Power Packs

Press Release ( - Ningbo - Apr 18, 2016 - Target-hydraulics begun the construction of a new testing facility for its mini power packs. Earlier this week, Mr. Dominic  Wang, Target-Hydraulics product manager had also announced that the company will be purchasing more hydraulics testing machines.

“Hydraulic power packs have so many interconnected systems whose performance must be verified independently and it is for this reason that we have decided to set up an electrical testing bench for all our hydraulic power packs,” said Mr. Dominic  Wang, during a press briefing. “Target-hydraulics is obliged to ensure that all mini power packs meet the required industry standards in terms of: safety, quality, reliability, cost efficiency and high density of power transmission.”

Target-hydraulics new testing facility will mainly test the efficiency of electric motors. They form an integral part of the power section.

“How we generate a driving torque in all our hydraulic systems really matters a lot to us. This is actually the main reason why we decided to have an in-house electric testing facility to collaborate with other international testing facilities,” Mr. Wang reiterated. “As a matter of fact, types of motors form an integral classification criteria. It is for this reason that Target-hydraulics Mini Power Packs are classified as either DC or AC.”

At the moment, Target-hydraulics is already working with various learning institutions in China, Europe and America. This move aims to help the company initiate research on improving the motor performance.

Motor parameters to be tested in Target-hydraulics testing facility

Target-hydraulics has invested in high-tech motor testing equipment. The company is also training its workforce in advanced motor testing.

“Inefficiencies in electric motors can be blamed for high operational costs, which goes down to the consumer. It is the main reason why we need to analyze every parameter that affects operations of a hydraulic system motor,” said Mr. Wang in a press briefing.

According to a memo that was sent to various heads of departments, this new testing facility will mainly focus on testing the following:

Motor rated power; testing maximum power for normal operation of a hydraulic system.

Rated voltage; the tests aim to establish recommended operational voltages based on motor speed and other motor operational conditions.

No-load rated speed; this is the revolutions per minute (RPM). This will include testing for maximum operational speed at a specific voltage.

Stall torque; this is the amount of torque that reverses motor speed due to an external force. Normally, reversing rotation torque of a motor may result in burned driver chips or damaged motor. It may also result in a rapid rise in motor temperature.

Other parameters that will be measured include no load current and motor starting current.

This expansion of a testing facility is mainly due to the increase in demand for Target-hydraulics hydraulic power packs.

“Expanding our facility does not mean that electrical technicians will work independently, they will work hand in hand with the hydraulic system testing facility. We only strive at adopting a more specialized manufacturing process as it is part of our innovation and operations management plan,” said Mr. Dominic  Wang.
