The Hidden Well By Ryan O'gorman

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - MELBOURNE, Australia - May 25, 2016 - About:

Synopsis

THE HIDDEN WELL is a portmanteau feature film, composed of five standalone chapters united by a common stylistic  framework: five different renowned writers with one director.  Each chapter is a simple human story devoid of effects and set pieces, but engined by emotion and intimacy. Each new character, each new story reflect some kind of surprising crisis: a couple looking for connection, a young man faces a beautiful proposition, a woman finding her estranged father, a devoted husband harbours a burning desire – all of them hiding secrets behind the veil of happiness and thus, ‘The Hidden Well’. Some of these stories are strange, sexy, some are funny, some are tragic and others are bittersweet.

‘The Hidden Well’ is modelled on the style of ‘Paris Je T’aime (‘Paris I Love You’), ‘Relatos Salvages’ (‘Wild Tales’), ‘Poison’ and ‘Red Violin’. The mesmerising cinematography and look of the film is influenced by Euro films such as ‘The Dreamers’, ‘Betty Blue’ (’37  2 Le Matin’) plus ‘Orlando’, ‘I, Origins’ and the Canadian film ‘Take the Last Waltz’. The situations presented within the film are to incite reaction, discussion and trigger honest and genuine discussion. Fat Kid Films hopes to provide an audience with the experience that does not disperse immediately but lingers in the audience’s minds long afterwards.

‘The Hidden Well’ is certainly powerful, revealing and know doubt controversial. But it is also a unique film of emotional and moving love stories that are rich, complex and rarely told truthfully. Fat Kid Films believes films such as this are much needed in Australia. The completed film may contain scenes that some audiences may find confronting.

To get to this point it has taken four years.  Now, after some false starts  and time away, we are getting closer and closer to commence shooting.  In 2009, quite by accident, we produced our first debut feature film ‘The Dream Children’ based on playwright Julia Britton’s original stage play entitled ‘Internet Baby’.

The film took over five years to produce and was acquired by the world-wide sales agent and distributor Media Luna New Films based in Cologne, Germany. After a brief hiatus, the film was officially selected by numerous international film festivals for Italy, US, India, Spain, Netherlands and Tokyo. It continues to been screened on the film festival circuit at present. The film was also screened at the American and European Film Markets and was recently bought and screened in arthouse cinemas throughout the Netherlands.
