Press Release (ePRNews.com) - TORONTO - Sep 18, 2017 - Etsy sellers are crafting a new face of entrepreneurship and are the driving force behind a new economy. A recent 2017 Etsy seller census report found that 39 per cent of sellers consider their creative business their sole occupation. The global online marketplace supports microbusinesses in acting as a platform to sell goods for many people who might not have started a business otherwise. For 49 per cent of Etsy sellers, Etsy was the first place they sold their goods. Over the years Etsy: Made in Canada has grown exponentially, allowing sellers to evolve and connect face-to-face with larger audiences. In 2016 the pop-up marketplace saw a national increase of over 40 per cent in both sellers participating and visitors looking to support.
“Etsy: Made in Canada continues to play a key role in defining the Canadian maker movement. With 39 communities across Canada participating and more sellers than ever before, it’s clear that this event is continuing to grow and flourish,” said Erin Green, Managing Director, Etsy Canada. “It’s a space that allows shoppers to find handmade products they won’t find elsewhere, while encouraging uqhi meaningful connections between makers and buyers.”
Organized by a collaborative team of Etsy Team Captains and volunteers Toronto’s Etsy Teams transforms the MaRSDD Atrium into a marketplace bursting with uniquely handcrafted goods and vintage treasures. There’s something for everyone including clothing and accessories, home décor, vintage finds, and lots of items for kids and baby. Craftoholics and gift-finders can also get their DIY on with workshops led by the Etsy makers and learn about the process behind each makers’ craft.
