Announcing the launch of "Conversing With A Girl Child" by Vision Katleho Foundation

Dec 01, 2016 Mark

Press Release (ePRNews.com) - JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Dec 01, 2016 - The Investigative Team at Vision Katleho Foundation earmarked the Newgate College of Education in Parktown, Johannesburg as their latest beneficiary. Tears were shed upon visiting the school a fortnight ago. Duma Sandile-Mboni Chairman of the Foundation and Sylvia Kgoadi, MD and Founder of the Foundation were moved by the appalling conditions they witnessed first-hand. Newgate Educational College accommodates learners from grade 8 to 12. Most of these learners hail from Alexandra, Hillbrow, Soweto and Yeoville and the majority of students are from poor families and child-headed households. The situation at the school is so bad that they use shacks as classes and at times, teachers don’t get remunerated for months on end, just to mention a few of the school’s challenges.

Consequently, Vision Katleho Foundation secured the Hillbrow Recreation Centre and fixed the 29th November to hold their Event for the College. The reason for the urgency to get things going was that the students had finished writing on the 28th November and the Foundations desire to bring relief, comfort, inspiration, motivation and a message of hope to their disadvantaged students needed to be done before the children went on holiday.

Sylvia set the theme for the day “Conversing With A Girl Child”

“Conversing With A Girl Child” will be an annual summit which is to circulate nationwide where we gather girls from various disadvantaged high schools from province to province to converse with them about major challenges they are faced with from home, school to the streets and come up with solutions for and with them as they will be part of the conversation throughout the conference.

The main objective of Conversing With A Girl Child is to create a platform for speakers and the girls share their powerful stories and journeys…To empower, motivate, to give hope, to build confidence and self-awareness, to impart skills, experience and knowledge.” Said Sylvia

Towards the end of the day, Vision Katleho Foundation presented every girl with a gift bag which had a pack of sanitary pads, deodorant, toothpaste, bath soap and a toothbrush. The atmosphere was charged with energy and brought back into divine alignment as individuals learned how to fulfil their purpose and maximize their personal potential.

Andile Nebza Nebulane, a professional actor by profession, known for his television roles: “Jeff” on Rhythm City, and “Duma” on Hustle, both on ETV, was the MC and programme director for the day.

After their successful event at this year’s Mandela Day where Vision Katleho donated shoes and jerseys to the Harry Gwala primary school Tshepisong, JHB West, they once again presented a day that forever changed the  lives of everyone present.

Sylvia Kgoadi, Founder and Managing Director of Vision Katleho Foundation says ” We don’t work in the non-profit sector, we work in the “for-change” sector!”

In good times and bad, we know that people give because you meet needs, not because you have needs. – Kay Sprinkel Grace
