San Francisco, California - Sep 02, 2025 (UTC) - Anthropic has completed a $13 billion Series F funding round that values the AI research company at $183 billion post-money, tripling its valuation from six months ago and marking one of the largest venture funding rounds in technology history.
The round was led by ICONIQ and co-led by Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners. The extensive investor group includes Altimeter, Baillie Gifford, affiliated funds of BlackRock, Blackstone, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, General Atlantic, General Catalyst, GIC, Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Insight Partners, Jane Street, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, Qatar Investment Authority, TPG, T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc., WCM Investment Management, and XN.
The funding comes amid explosive growth for the AI startup, which last raised $3.5 billion at a $61.5 billion post-money valuation in March 2025. Anthropic’s run-rate revenue has grown from approximately $1 billion at the beginning of 2025 to over $5 billion by August 2025, making it one of the fastest-growing technology companies in history.
“We are seeing exponential growth in demand across our entire customer base,” said Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic. “This financing demonstrates investors’ extraordinary confidence in our financial performance and the strength of their collaboration with us to continue fueling our unprecedented growth.”
The company now serves over 300,000 business customers, with its number of large accounts representing over $100,000 in run-rate revenue growing nearly 7x in the past year. Claude Code, the company’s developer-focused product launched in May 2025, has emerged as a major growth driver, already generating over $500 million in run-rate revenue with usage growing more than 10x in just three months.
“Anthropic is on an exceptional trajectory, combining research excellence, technological leadership, and relentless focus on customers,” said Divesh Makan, Partner at ICONIQ. “We’re honored to partner with Dario and the team, and our lead investment in their Series F reflects our belief in their values and their ability to shape the future of responsible AI.”
Anthropic’s rapid ascent has been driven by its leading technical talent, focus on safety research, and frontier research including pioneering alignment and interpretability work. The company’s Claude family of AI models launched in March 2023 and has quickly gained adoption across enterprises, developers, and individual users for mission-critical applications.
The funding positions Anthropic as one of the most valuable startups globally and intensifies competition with rivals including OpenAI and Cursor in the rapidly expanding AI market. The massive funding round reflects investors’ confidence in AI’s transformative potential and Anthropic’s ability to capture significant market share in enterprise AI applications.
The company plans to use the funding to expand capacity to meet growing enterprise demand, deepen safety research, and support international expansion while continuing to build what it describes as “reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.” The investment comes as enterprises increasingly adopt AI tools for critical business operations, driving unprecedented demand for sophisticated AI platforms.
Anthropic’s platform offers API access and industry-specific products designed to integrate powerful AI capabilities into critical applications without complex integration work. The company’s focus on safety and reliability has resonated with enterprise customers seeking trustworthy AI solutions for high-stakes applications.
