Ayurveda has been the source of vast information about and mental health for ages. In literal terms, Ayurveda means Agni (fire) and according to this ancient science, what you eat and give to your mind and body means giving fuel to that symbolic fire.

What you eat and drink is what boosts that fire within the body or can dampen it. So Ayurveda is guidance on what you should eat according to your body type. Harmful foods such as fried foods and processed meats can create indigestion which forms toxins within the body that is the root cause of diseases.

Ayurveda encourages good eating habits. Most Ayurveda practitioners promote habits such as:

  • Eat only when hungry
  • Keep gaps of at least three hours between meals
  • Avoid cold, wet, spicy, oily, and fried food
  • Don’t drink water after the meal but before it
