Copenhagen, Jan 10, 2024: Jabra, a global leader in audio and video communication solutions, sheds light on the transformative impact of technology on collaboration in meetings through a comprehensive study conducted at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) Behavioural Lab. Titled ‘Meeting Great Expectations: Behaviour, Emotion and Trust,’ the study delves into the biopsychological effects of everyday work technology on human behavior, collaboration, and inclusion in meetings.

With over 572 million knowledge workers globally spending billions of hours in online meetings each week, Jabra’s study aims to decipher how the technology used in these meetings influences behavior and collaboration effectiveness. The Hybrid Ways of Working 2023 Global Report by Jabra revealed that only 15% of offices possess adequate meeting room technology, emphasizing the need to assess the impact of available technology on collaboration.

Key Findings of the Study:

Equity in Meeting Experiences: The study emphasizes the importance of professional meeting technology for achieving equity in meeting experiences. When all participants use professional Jabra equipment, there is a notable improvement in call clarity (27%), trust (16%), expressiveness (35%), and the quality of input (47%).

Enhanced Remote Worker Experience: Remote workers using professional headsets and cameras experience an 18% improvement in call clarity. Meeting room participants also rate remote users 32% higher in terms of expressiveness. The perceived level of engagement among meeting room participants is 84% higher when comparing hybrid workers using professional equipment with those relying on laptop-built-in hardware.

Impact on Remote Users: When equipped with professional technology, remote participants report a 56% improvement in the quality of conference room contributions. Professional video gear in the conference room enhances collaboration ratings for remote participants, showcasing the role of technology in bridging the gap between physically separated meeting participants.

Holger Reisinger, SVP at Jabra, commented, “High-quality technology has a profound impact on the effectiveness of remote collaboration. Our research demonstrates that when businesses invest in professional equipment for both in-room and remote participants, they can achieve remarkable improvements. These findings underscore the pivotal role of technology in optimizing meeting experiences and fostering successful hybrid collaboration.”

Dr. Simon Noyce, British Chartered Psychologist and Lead Project Researcher, added, “In today’s world of hybrid meetings, bridging the gap between in-person and remote collaboration has never been more important. Our aim is to encourage businesses to harness this technology to enable meaningful interactions that come as close as possible to the richness of face-to-face engagement.”
