MG Motor India Launches MG Developer Program and Grant Season 5.0

Feb 03, 2024: MG Motor India, in collaboration with Startup India and Manthan, has announced the launch of the MG Developer Program and Grant (MGDP) Season 5.0, focusing on “Artificial Intelligence in Electric Mobility.” The initiative aims to provide a platform for startups, developers, and innovators to showcase their AI advancements in the electric mobility sector.

Launched in 2019, MGDP Season 5.0 is supported by Startup India, Manthan (Office of PSA), AWS, Exicom Telesystems, Lohum, and DRIIV. The program aims to empower startups by offering them a launchpad to develop applications and create unique experiences for MG and its customers.

Gaurav Gupta, Deputy Managing Director, MG Motor India, highlighted the brand’s commitment to fostering innovation and transforming concepts into reality. MGDP 5.0 focuses on artificial intelligence in electric mobility, encouraging knowledge exchange and positioning India as a hub for innovation and technology in the automotive landscape.

Dr. Sapna Poti, Director, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, praised the initiative for advancing AI and electric mobility. She emphasized that the program goes beyond fostering ideas, acting as a catalyst for creating a greener and smarter mobility landscape.

Aastha Grover, Head, Startup India, noted that innovation and technology are crucial for growth in any sector. She highlighted the power of AI to revolutionize transportation solutions, making them safer, more efficient, and environmentally conscious. Through MGDP, MG is nurturing talented innovators with the potential to transform the automotive industry.

Over five years, MGDP has mentored more than 1,450 startups in various fields, including connected car technology and electric mobility. MG Motor India has facilitated mentorship from over 100 experts, fostering collaborations with innovative partners. The program has already shortlisted 34 promising startups engaged in pilot projects with the company, aiming to take a leadership position in AI in electric mobility.

As MGDP Season 5.0 unfolds, it seeks to create a pipeline of new ideas and stories for customers in India, further establishing MG Motor India’s role in driving technological advancements and fostering innovation in the automotive industry.
