QUEENSLAND, Australia, Feb 13, 2024: The Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland (DTMR) has embraced innovation with the implementation of an advanced mobile application from Motorola Solutions, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of transport inspectors while bolstering safety on Queensland’s roads. The Queensland Compliance Information System (QCIS) marks a significant departure from traditional paper-based methods, offering an intuitive digital solution that streamlines the processing, storage, and analysis of operational data.

“The Queensland Government is dedicated to fostering a road network that not only supports our economy but also prioritizes safety for all road users,” affirmed the Honourable Bart Mellish, MP, Minister for Transport and Main Roads and Minister for Digital Services. “By equipping Queensland’s road inspectors with cutting-edge digital technology, we empower them to better enforce the state’s road regulations and compliance standards, ultimately benefiting every road user in our state.”

QCIS delivers substantial time-saving advantages for transport inspectors, enabling them to complete a single vehicle intercept in just 15 minutes. With QCIS in action, inspectors are recording up to 3,000 vehicle intercepts and issuing up to 1,000 compliance forms, including infringement notices, every month. Moreover, the application contributes to national road safety efforts by sharing Queensland’s heavy vehicle information with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

This flexible and user-friendly solution operates seamlessly on Apple iPads and a web management portal, granting transport inspectors across Queensland real-time access to vehicle registration and licensing information. QCIS integrates seamlessly with pertinent compliance databases for heavy, passenger, and transport vehicles. Furthermore, the application has been bolstered with Queensland’s new Digital Licence app, facilitating swift and convenient verification of drivers’ identities.

QCIS aligns closely with the Department of Main Roads Queensland’s strategic plan, which aims to provide a safe and secure transport system for passengers and goods.

Motorola Solutions’ mobile applications have also been embraced by other Australian organizations, including the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and the Western Australia Police, demonstrating their efficacy in enabling frontline workers to operate safely and efficiently.
