vivo India Honors National Winners of vivo Ignite Awards for Innovative Ideas
New Delhi, India, Feb 12, 2024: Vivo, the renowned smartphone brand, in collaboration with NCERT and iHub DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee, proudly announced the National Winners of the ‘vivo Ignite: Technology and Innovation Awards’. The prestigious event, held at The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, witnessed the unveiling of the top innovative projects by young minds from across the country.
Out of over 4,000 projects received nationwide, the top 10 National Finalists showcased their groundbreaking ideas, with the most promising among them being crowned as the National Winners. The winning project, “Smart Street – Where innovation meets sustainability,” received the top honor and a cash prize of INR 7 lakhs for its prototype aimed at revolutionizing urban streets for enhanced safety, sustainability, and aesthetics.
Geetaj Channana, Head of Corporate Strategy at vivo India, commended the exceptional talent and creativity displayed by the participants, stating, “Through initiatives like vivo Ignite, we aim to foster innovation and empower young minds to create sustainable solutions for societal challenges. The overwhelming response to vivo Ignite reflects the passion and enthusiasm of our youth towards driving positive change through technology and innovation.”
In addition to the top winner, four runners-up projects, including Multi-Functional Eco-Friendly Agro Machine and Automatic Machine for Ready to Grow Oyster Mushroom Bags, shared cash prizes worth INR 14 lakhs. The 6th to 10th National Finalists were also recognized with cash prizes of INR 25,000 each for their commendable efforts.
Prof (Dr.) Indu Kumar from CIET – NCERT praised vivo’s commitment to nurturing innovation among Indian students, highlighting the transformative potential of projects like “Smart Street” in addressing societal needs.
Manish Anand, CEO of iHub DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee, lauded the winners’ entrepreneurial spirit and emphasized the importance of initiatives like vivo Ignite in fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among India’s youth.
The top 25 ideas, selected based on video submissions, are being evaluated for further research, incubation, or start-up opportunities by iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee.
The jury panel, consisting of esteemed academicians and industry experts, evaluated the projects based on criteria such as creativity, innovation, societal impact, and scalability. The initiative’s success underscores its alignment with the “Scientific Social Responsibility” agenda of the Department of Science and Technology, GOI.
