Reliance Foundation Launches Vantara: A Revolutionary Animal Rescue and Conservation Programme
Gujarat, India, Feb 27, 2024: Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation have unveiled a groundbreaking initiative called Vantara (Star of the Forest), marking a significant leap in India’s efforts towards animal rescue, care, conservation, and rehabilitation. Spearheaded by Shri Anant Ambani, Director on the boards of RIL and Reliance Foundation, Vantara aims to revolutionize wildlife conservation and establish itself as a global leader in this arena.
Situated within the expansive Green Belt of Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat, Vantara spans over 3000 acres and is meticulously designed to provide a sanctuary-like environment for rescued animals to thrive. With a mission to protect endangered species native to India and restore vital habitats, Vantara is set to be at the forefront of conservation efforts globally.
At the heart of Vantara’s ethos lies compassion coupled with modern scientific and technological excellence. Shri Anant Ambani expressed his vision, stating, “Vantara aims to be a leading-edge conservation program, partnering with top zoological and medical experts, government bodies, and research institutions. Our goal is to offer unmatched care and rehabilitation facilities while spearheading initiatives for biodiversity conservation.”
Vantara’s holistic approach encompasses state-of-the-art healthcare, research, and academic centers, with a focus on integrating advanced research and collaborating with international organizations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF).
Over the years, Vantara has rescued and rehabilitated numerous animals, including elephants, rhinos, leopards, and crocodiles, from distressing situations both in India and abroad. With a dedicated team of professionals, Vantara operates under strict legal and regulatory frameworks, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare.
The Centre for Elephants, a hallmark of Vantara, boasts world-class facilities including a sprawling elephant hospital equipped with advanced medical technologies. Additionally, the Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre provides sanctuary to animals rescued from circuses, zoos, and dangerous environments, offering them a new lease on life.
With collaborations with international organizations and educational institutions, Vantara aims not only to conserve wildlife but also to raise awareness and educate the public, particularly the youth, about the importance of conservation.
Through Vantara, Reliance Foundation reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation, setting new benchmarks for compassion and care towards animals.
