Rotary Youth Exchange is an Exciting High School Study Abroad Program
Rotary Youth Exchange is a study abroad program for high school students belonging to the age group of 14 – 19 years.
Press Release (ePRNews.com) - USA - Apr 23, 2019 - Foreign student exchange programs serve as ideal options for those students who desire to do something new and exciting apart from their usual study routine. Students participating in such programs get ample exciting opportunities, including, but not restricted to, learning a new language, discovering another culture, and becoming a well-rounded individual while meeting their academic goals. Sponsored by Rotary Clubs in more than 100 countries, Rotary Youth Exchange is an exchange program designed for 14 to 19-year-old students. It transforms students into global citizens, as it allows them to develop lifelong leadership skills and build lasting friendships with young people from across the globe.
While providing an insight into Rotary Youth Exchange, its spokesperson in an interview stated, “Rotary Youth Exchange showers students with opportunities to unlock their true potential. These study abroad programs and scholarships provide students with an international education and incredible life experiences. It is an initiative of the Rotary NAYEN (North American Youth EXCHANGE Network) and is ideal for students who are leaders in their schools and communities. The two types of Rotary Youth Exchange programs are the short-term exchanges and the long-term exchanges, which students can choose as per their individual requirement, taste, and preferences.”
The short-term Rotary Youth Exchange programs last several days to three months in a foreign destination. The four most common types of short-term youth exchanges are homestays, tours, family-to-family, and international youth camps. As they take place when the student’s school is not in session, so students participating generally don’t attend school in a host country during these exchanges. However, they have the freedom to tailor the exchange program so that it matches their interests. For example, they can include tours of specific regions or places to their exchange program. The long-term Rotary Youth Exchange programs, on the other hand, last a full academic year wherein students attend local schools and live with multiple host families.
Talking about the high school study abroad programs, the spokesperson added, “The Rotary Study Abroad program is a scholarship program tailor-made for high-school students who have dreamt of studying abroad as a foreign exchange student. Its includes hosting by a foreign Rotary Club on a space available condition, primary tuition and placement in a school approved by foreign Rotary Club, homestay accommodation, including meals with a host family, a monthly stipend from the hosting Rotary Club, and airport transfers on arrival and departure. Other inclusions are 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance throughout the program, secondary travel and medical insurance, pre-departure, and some in-country orientations.”
The Rotary Study Abroad scholarship program is indeed one of the most reliable study abroad programs for high school students . It is a long-term travel program experience, which begins a year before students finally leave to study abroad. When they arrive in a foreign country for their academic year, they can live with as many as three or four carefully selected and trained host families. Those who participate in high school abroad programs become bicultural and bilingual.
