Press Release (ePRNews.com) - Boca Raton, FL - May 19, 2017 - Sea Star School in Boca Raton has been accepted into the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) as a developing member. Sea Star Waldorf School, formally known as the Sea Star Initiative, is a private non-profit school that operates on two campuses in Boca Raton.
“Being a part of the Waldorf Association of North America offers Sea Star the additional support in many areas of school development that strive to enrich the curriculum, pedagogy, and teaching methods that are designed to nurture intellectual flexibility, creative thinking, independent judgment, moral discernment, and excellent written and oral communication skills for all students,” says Dane Dougall, Chairman of Sea Star Board of Directors. “It’s truly an exciting time for all of our current students and future students and parents looking for an alternative education in South Florida.”
Currently there is over 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide, that offer a developmentally appropriate, experiential, and academically rigorous approach to education. The schools integrate the arts in all academic disciplines for children in the elementary years, while during the early childhood years the focus is on preserving childhood, while learning through imaginative play, imitation, movement, artistic and domestic activities. Waldorf Education aims to inspire life-long love for learning in all students and to enable them to fully develop their unique capacities.
Sea Star Waldorf School’s mission is to nourish the intellectual, physical movement, and artistic development of the child; cultivating each child’s unique contribution for the future through the unfolding of courage, compassion and truth. The school is a fully licensed school that offers an elementary school program for children in first through eighth grade as well as an early childhood program including kindergarten, nursery and parent and child classes.
