Hartmut Huber, Inventor of TravelScoot

The TravelScoot scooter was invented by Hartmut Huber, a German mechanical engineer and amateur aircraft designer and builder. Huber suffered a leg injury from a hang glider accident while living in the U.S. Mobility became an issue with age, and traditional wheelchairs presented a portability problem especially when traveling. Huber used his engineering skills to design an electric scooter that was lightweight, adjustable, easily portable and powerful.

Weighing less than 30 pounds without the battery, the TravelScoot scooter was designed for portability. It folds easily to fit into a car trunk unlike a standard wheelchair that typically requires a lift or a trailer with hitch to load into a customized vehicle. For air travel, the TravelScoot can be disassembled to fit into an 86 X 31 X 25 cubic centimeter parcel. This mobility equipment approved for airline transport. It is light enough to lift over steps and thresholds, eliminating the need for accessibility ramps. The TravelScoot is available in the Shopper and Standard/Deluxe models, and each model can be ordered in junior versions for children and smaller-than-average adults.
