Apr 10, 2024: FICCI, India’s apex business chamber, marked its 97th Foundation Day with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, New Delhi, honoring the historic address he delivered at FICCI’s 4th AGM in 1931. The celebrations continued in Mumbai, where FICCI felicitated the descendants of 33 past presidents, spanning the years 1927 to 1959. These events reflected FICCI’s rich heritage and its pivotal role in shaping India’s economic landscape.

Dr. Anish Shah, President of FICCI, hailed the Foundation Day as a tribute to the visionary leaders who played a crucial role in India’s economic development. He emphasized the importance of upholding their governance values as FICCI strides towards its centenary in 2027.

Mr. Harsh Pati Singhania, a Past President of FICCI, highlighted the close connection between FICCI’s history and India’s journey from independence to economic liberalization, positioning the country as a global economic force.

In a conversation with Dr. Shah, Mr. KV Kamath, Chairperson of NaBFID, emphasized the role of both young and older generations in driving India’s demographic dividend through skill development.

Simultaneously, FICCI organized its second National Executive Committee Meeting (NECM) for 2023-24, attended by industry leaders. The meeting focused on four key pillars: promoting indigenous manufacturing and innovation through ‘Make in India’, empowering farmers, fostering women’s entrepreneurship, and promoting sustainability.

President Dr. Shah encouraged attendees to share transformative ideas for accelerating India’s development and urged sector committee chairs to align industry action with government priorities, particularly emphasizing the perspectives of MSME sector leaders.

Mr. SK Pathak, Secretary General of FICCI, reiterated the organization’s commitment to India’s inclusive growth and global integration, emphasizing the importance of the four key pillars in driving the nation forward.

As India advances towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, FICCI remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development, ensuring that the nation’s progress benefits all segments of society. Through its Foundation Day celebrations and strategic initiatives, FICCI reaffirms its role as a catalyst for India’s economic and social transformation.
