ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE Sponsoring Study Abroad Programs for High School Students’ Cultural Development
ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE is offering sponsorships via Rotary Clubs in 100 countries to support various study abroad programs that aim at making high school students become global citizens.
Press Release (ePRNews.com) - USA - Nov 04, 2019 - ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE sponsors many types of foreign student exchanges. With its study abroad programs and scholarships, the high school students receive an opportunity to learn a new language, discover a new culture, and truly become a global citizen. As a foreign exchange student, one can choose from a short-term exchange in the summer, a full academic year of high school, or a gap year. These sponsored programs are safe and affordable. Rotary Youth Exchange works on these programs via Rotary Clubs present in more than 100 nations.
During an educational seminar, the spokesperson of ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE informed, “We sponsor short-term student exchanges, as well as long-term programs. While our short-term exchanges last from several days to three months, our long-term programs last a full academic year. Short-term programs may be structured as homestays when the school is not in session or as family-to-family, tours, or international youth camps. Students aged 15 to 19 years can become a part of most of our sponsored foreign student exchange programs.”
A year before the high school study abroad program, students start the experience by going through the application, selection and preparation process. During their academic year abroad, they study at a local high school and live with three or four carefully selected and trained host families. This immersion program makes them bilingual and bicultural while changing their perspective of the world they live in. Those students who have had a gap year can be a part of the gap year program, as there are limited opportunities for students to participate in it after graduation from a U.S. or Canadian high school.
The spokesperson also stated, “Our high school study abroad program is available for students between 15 and 19 years of age. Our gap year program puts meaning into students’ gap year travel, as they can spend it studying abroad. We also have summer foreign exchange student programs that are short-term exchanges. Although students generally would not attend school in a host country, they may be able to tailor the exchange to match their interests or to include the tours of specific places or regions.”
Whether it is study abroad for high school students or gap year abroad programs, the sponsor ensures that the participating students unlock their true potential to develop lifelong leadership skills and build lasting friendships with young people from around the world. ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE programs are also beneficial for host families that provide rooms and boards, as well as share their lives with exchange students, involving them in family, community, and cultural activities.
